Who is JCPenney Life Insurance?
JCPenney Life Insurance, later known as Stonebridge Life Insurance Company, was merged into Transamerica in 2015.
Founded in 1906, Transamerica has become one of the world’s leading financial service companies. In 1999, it was acquired by the Aegon Group, a leading international life insurance, pension, and investment company based in the Netherlands.
Transamerica is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and has offices in the states of Maryland, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia, Texas, and Florida.
What policies were offered by JCPenney Life Insurance?
JCPenney/ Stonebridge offered:
- Term,
- Whole,
- Universal, and,
- Variable universal life insurance, as well as coverage for private medical and dental needs.
One of their most popular products was the final expense policy with a guaranteed cash value that allows beneficiaries to cover funeral and burial expenses.
The guaranteed issue life insurance plan is now offered through Transamerica.
What should I do if I have questions regarding my JCPenney policy?
If you had a policy with JCPenney Life Insurance or Stonebridge Life Insurance, it was automatically transferred to Transamerica when it acquired Stonebridge in 2105.
According to Transamerica, you don’t need a new policy and there are no changes either to your coverage or benefits.
Although Transamerica no longer offers online enrollments for former JCPenney customers, if you still have your old insurance policy, you should be able to manage your account online.
You can also click the link to Send an Email at the bottom of the contact page and fill out the form. Transamerica will send you the policy number or request additional information within 2-4 business days.

I was called in November 2020 and told my policy would end on my birthday – 12/19/20. I have tried to call the phone number on my J.C Pennys bill and they have transferred and I have been on hold on the phone for several times and the last time I was on hold for 2 hours. Hi Lorraine – best thing you can do is call first thing in the morning when Transamerica opens. They have notoriously long hold times if you wait until or mid-afternoon.

I have been calling 800-527-9027, and 800-852-4678, and 4 other numbers. I have been on been on at least 3 days a week for 3 hours a few times a day and it will time out. I did get 2 different people since 1/5/2021. Today I was on the 8005279027 and hold and 5 hours and it timed out, shut off, hung up etc. I am not sure if TranAmerica assign a department to that number. Please help, I am now paying her plan since I do not want it to cancel
