The Good News Is That You Have More Options Than You Ever Had In The Past
Getting final expense coverage for mental disorders such as depression, bipolar or schizophrenia has never been easier. With the final expense market being so competitive, many carriers are trying to win more business by being more flexible with accepting mental disorders.
Here’s An Overview Of Today’s Topics:
First of all, let’s talk about depression.
Depression is kind of like an umbrella condition.
For example, some people have situational depression that is temporary in nature, such as losing a spouse. Perhaps you have situational anxiety, nervousness, mild depression, chronic depression, or major depressive disorder that requires time in a mental health hospital.
The point is there are a lot of varieties of depression. The good news is most final expense life insurance will allow for all of these things, even if you are taking prescription medication. I’ve seen people taking Zoloft, Xanax, or Depakote accepted without any problem, whatsoever.
The second situation is bipolar. Getting final expense burial insurance with bipolar has been tough, but it is getting easier if you work with an independent agent. Bipolar involves people experiencing very high highs, and very low lows.
The medical industry has all sorts of medications to treat bipolar. It’s a little bit harder to get burial coverage if you have bipolar, but certainly not impossible if you work with a company that has a range of options for mental disorders, like we do at my business.
What should you look out for? Well, for example, it’s much easier to cover somebody with bipolar if they only take Celexa. It gets harder if they’re on medications like lithium that are heavier in dosage. But still, I can find you preferred coverage under certain circumstances. So don’t fret! It’s actually very possible to get good coverage at preferred rates, even if you have bipolar.
The last issue that’s probably the hardest of all mental disorders to cover is schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder where people have
visions and multiple personalities. Under the close guidance of a doctor, schizophrenia can now be managed with the right medications.
I’m happy to report that I’ve helped many people who have schizophrenia get full first-day coverage. Again, many companies cannot do this.
I can think of many carriers that do not sell final expense life insurance at a preferred rate; however, I can find it. I know which carriers to talk to, and I have gotten many people with schizophrenia preferred rates and full coverage.
